From the first moment I stepped into the foyer of Mas de la Perdrix, I felt I had
come home after a long journey. Photographs and pictures had given me some sense
of what to expect, but what I didn't expect was the emotional impact of this
magical and serene place.
Mas de la Perdrix is located in the tiny hameau (hamlet) of Les Barbiers in the
Luberon valley of the south of France. We found ourselves conveniently within
striking distance of several charming hill towns such as Roussillon, Gordes, Apt,
and Bonnieux. Each of these villages is very proud of, and rightfully so, their
specialty outdoor markets. "Foraging" for our supper each night was a delight as
was the super-modern salle de cuisine of Mas de la Perdrix. This is a kitchen
straight out of a foodie's dream!
The home has a centuries old exterior and a bright, modern interior with every
imaginable convenience. Of the many well-planned features of the home, the very
private bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, has to rate an A+ for any families
or couples spending time together.
We were often torn by our desire to just sit outside by the pool and enjoy the
peaceful countryside or jump in the car for an excursion to Isle sur la Sorgue,
Arles or Avignon. Mas de la Perdrix will calm your senses and restore your soul.
